Getting started and your account

Fondfully keeps everyone you shop for in one private place: their sizes, their dates, what they're into right now, the ideas you tuck away and every gift you've given.

You need an account to use Fondfully. Your account is how Fondfully knows it's you: it holds your email, how you sign in and your plan. Your people, ideas and gifts aren't in your account. They live in your vault, on your phone and in your own iCloud or Google Drive.

Create your account

Tap Get started on the welcome screen, then choose one way to sign up:

• Continue with Apple (iPhone only). Apple may offer to hide your email. If you choose that, our emails reach you through Apple's private relay.
• Continue with Google (iPhone and Android).
• Email and password. Your password needs at least 12 characters. Tap the eye to show or hide it, and watch the hint below for how strong it is. Adding your name is optional; Fondfully uses it to say hello.

Whichever you choose, check the box that says "I'm 18 or older and I agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy." Fondfully is for adults, 18 and older. Tap Terms or Privacy Policy to read the exact version you're agreeing to.

Where the law asks app stores to share age information, Fondfully also checks what Apple or Google says about your age. If it says you're under 18, you'll see "Fondfully is for adults" and no account is created. Without that information, your checkbox is what counts.

Apple and Google sign you in straight away. With email and password there's one more step.

If you see "That email already has an account. Sign in instead?", you signed up before. Tap Sign in.

Verify your email

We send a 6-digit code to the address you gave. Type it in and tap Verify.

• Your phone may offer to fill in the code for you.
• Tapping the link in the email opens this screen with the code already filled in.
• The code works for 15 minutes. After five wrong tries, ask for a new one.
• No email yet? Check your spam folder, then tap Resend code. It becomes available 30 seconds after the last code was sent.
• Spotted a typo in the address? Tap Use a different email.

Sign in

Tap I already have an account on the welcome screen, then sign in the way you usually do: Apple (on iPhone), Google, or your email and password.

If you signed up with email but never verified it, Fondfully sends a fresh code and takes you to the verification screen.

If your account email is verified, you can also use Continue with Google or Continue with Apple with that same email, and Fondfully connects it to your existing account.

No account yet? Continue with Apple or Continue with Google on this screen asks you to check the box first, then creates one.

Forgot your password

1. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?
2. Enter your email and tap Send reset link. You'll see "If an account exists for that email, a reset link is on its way." We word it this way so nobody can use the screen to find out who has an account.
3. Open the email on your phone and tap the link. Fondfully opens the reset screen.
4. Enter your new password twice and tap Set new password.

The link works once and expires after 30 minutes. When you set a new password, you're signed out on every device, so sign in again with the new one. If you open the link on a device without Fondfully, a page on fondfully.com lets you set the password there.

Signed up with Apple or Google? There's no Fondfully password to reset. We'll email you a reminder of how you sign in; choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google.

Your first few minutes

The first time you sign in, Fondfully walks you through four short steps. You can skip any of them and come back later.

1. Your people. Tap Import birthdays from Contacts to pick people from your contacts, or Add someone to type one in.
2. Reminders. Fondfully sends one gentle nudge at the right moment: 4 weeks, 2 weeks and 3 days before each occasion. Tap Turn on reminders and allow notifications when your phone asks.
3. Backup. Keep your vault safe in your own cloud. On iPhone, tap Use iCloud (recommended) or Use Google Drive. On Android, tap Use Google Drive. Or tap Later.
4. Usage statistics. Choose whether to share anonymous usage statistics, like which screens get used. They never include your people, gifts or notes. They stay off unless you tap Share anonymous stats.

Managing your account

Tap the gear on Home to open Settings, then tap Account. You'll see your name, your email and how you sign in. From here you can:

• Connect Google, or on iPhone Apple, as another way to sign in.
• Change password, if you sign in with email.
• Open Signed-in devices to see every phone where you're signed in and when each was last used. Sign one out, or tap Sign out everywhere. When your account is signed in on another device, we email you, so you'll know if it wasn't you.
• Sign out of this phone. Signing out doesn't touch the backup in your iCloud or Google Drive.
