Sharing a gift brief and household sharing

When someone asks "What would Maya like?", send a gift brief. It's a simple web page with the sizes and ideas you choose to share. It opens in any browser, with no account and no app. Gift briefs are part of Plus.

What's in a brief

You choose what to include:

• Sizes.
• Into right now for a child, or Loves for an adult.
• Ideas they can claim, so relatives can tell you what they're getting and nobody buys the same thing twice.
• Already has, so nobody doubles up on things they already own.

Some things always stay in your vault: "Budgets, receipts, your notes · Always private. Never shared."

Send a brief

1. Open the person's profile and tap Share. For a child, you can also tap Share with grandparents under their sizes.
2. Switch on the sections you want to include.
3. Choose when the link stops working. The suggestion is a week after their next occasion, like "Link stops working after Maya's birthday". You can pick 7, 30 or 90 days instead.
4. Tap Send the brief. Fondfully encrypts it on your phone, uploads it and opens your phone's share sheet, so you can send the link by message, email or however you like.

A brief is a snapshot of what you included when you sent it. If sizes or ideas change, send a fresh one, and stop sharing the old one.

Private by design

The brief is encrypted on your phone before it's uploaded. The key is in the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. Fondfully stores only the scrambled version and can't read it.

Anyone who has the whole link can open the brief. Share it the way you'd share a house key: only with people you trust.

Claims from relatives

On the brief page, relatives can claim an idea by adding their name. The claim is encrypted in their browser with the same key, and a quick check keeps bots out. Everyone with the link sees who claimed what, so nobody doubles up.

Claims come back to you the next time you open Fondfully, and the gift shows who's getting it, like "Claimed by Grandma".

Stop sharing

Open Settings and tap Shared briefs to see your briefs, when each one expires and how many claims it has.

• Tap Stop sharing to end a brief now. The link stops working straight away.
• When a brief expires, its link stops working too.

After a brief expires or you stop sharing it, Fondfully deletes the encrypted brief and its claims from our servers within 24 hours.

If Plus ends

You can't send new briefs, but the ones you've already sent keep working until they expire, and you can still stop sharing them.

Household sharing

Household sharing is coming later: two givers keeping one shared list, with each person's own gifts kept secret. Until then, a gift brief is the best way to bring family in, and Plus keeps all of your own devices in sync.
