Gifts, statuses and hiding spots

Every idea can become a gift. Its page keeps everything in one spot: the price, the store, where it's hidden and when it's arriving.

From idea to given

A gift moves through six steps:

1. Idea: tucked away, still thinking.
2. Chosen: this is the one.
3. Bought: paid for.
4. Arrived: it's in the house.
5. Wrapped: ready to go.
6. Given: it's in their hands.

Open a gift and tap a step on the status stepper to move it along. You don't have to use every step. A gift picked up in a shop can go straight to Bought or Wrapped.

Two dates fill themselves in:

• Moving a gift to Bought sets Purchased on to today, unless you've already entered a date.
• Moving a gift to Given records today as the day it was given, unless a date is already set.

You can change the purchase date whenever you like.

The five dots

Wherever you see a gift in a list, five small dots show how far along it is: idea, chosen, bought, arrived, wrapped.

• An idea fills one dot, a chosen gift fills two, and so on.
• Wrapped and given gifts fill all five, in green.
• On an occasion plan, someone with no gift yet has no dots at all.

What a gift page holds

• Price and store. If the price is in a different currency from your main one, the gift is left out of budget totals. See Budgets.
• Link. Tap it to open the page in your browser. If you've turned on "Support Fondfully when you shop", links to some stores carry our tag and show "Paid link: Fondfully earns a commission if you buy". See Membership, billing and restoring purchases.
• Why: the reason it's right for them.
• Hiding spot, like "Hall closet, top shelf". It shows on the occasion plan, so on the day you're not hunting.
• Arrives on: the delivery date you're expecting. The plan shows it as "Bought · arriving Dec 2".
• Purchased on: when you bought it.
• Receipt: link a receipt you've already scanned, or scan a new one. Receipts are part of Plus.
• Claimed by: if you shared a gift brief and a relative claimed this idea, you'll see who's getting it, like "Claimed by Grandpa Joe".
• Notes: anything else.

When it's given

Set the status to Given, then tap Add a memory to write a line about how it landed. On Plus you can add a photo too. See Memories.

Given gifts also:

• appear under Given before on the person's profile,
• help the repeat alert spot a gift you've already given,
• count as spent in your budgets.

Move, duplicate or delete

Tap … on a gift's page:

• Move to another occasion, for an idea that suits their birthday better than Christmas.
• Duplicate for another person, for when the cousins are all getting the same thing.
• Delete.

Keeping secrets

Hiding spots and notes stay in your vault. They're never included in a gift brief, and nobody else sees them unless they're looking at your phone.
